What is Choose to Reuse?

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

Coming to a park near you - the first Town of Dayton "Choose to Reuse"

You may ask "what is Choose to Reuse?" and the answer is - it's an event that allows citizens to bring items in good working condition that they want to discard, but that perhaps someone else can use. Items are donated at no cost, and others can take any item that they can use. There is no charge to take an item and you don't have to bring items in order to take something. Choose to reuse is used through-out Wisconsin, and the United States, check out this link for more information.

The Town of Dayton Choose to Reuse will be held on Saturday, September 9th at the Crystal River Kayak/Canoe Park (George and Louise Wood Memorial Park) from 10am-2pm, with early drop-off starting at 9:00am.

This Choose to Reuse will focus on fall/winter items -

  • Clothing for fall/winter - coats, boots, mittens, gloves

  • sleds

  • snow shovels

  • tools

  • yard items & gardening

  • Produce - vegetables and home grown items

Items that will not be accepted

  • Electronics

  • Appliances

  • Tires

Lunch is provided at no cost - hot dogs, chips, and water - bring a chair and stay for awhile to visit with your neighbors. Feel free to bring a desert to share with others if you'd like!

Any donations not taken at the end of the event will be delivered to the Waupaca Thrift Store, and any left over produce will be offered to the Waupaca Food Pantry, or composted.
